For 17 years in a row, Avans has been among the 3 highest-rated large universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands. 20 Avans programmes have been awarded the distinction of ‘Top Programme’. We congratulate Zuyd University of Applied Sciences on achieving first place and Windesheim on their third place.
23 mei 2025 by Avans HogeschoolThis year, Avans University of Applied Sciences is the second most sustainable higher education institution in the Netherlands, following Van Hall Larenstein University of Applied Sciences. This was revealed by the SustainaBul 2025, the annual sustainability ranking compiled by Studenten voor Morgen (Students for Tomorrow), which assessed 34 universities and universities of applied sciences this year. This recognition confirms that Avans not only has high ambitions in the field of sustainability, but also delivers on them — in education, research, and operations.

This funding enables PIONEER to join the ranks of more than 60 European universities. “We are taking international cooperation in higher education to the next level.”

The most important subjects for students in their ranking include the design of the education, the perceived dedication of lecturers and the evaluation of lecturers. Avans’ score is higher than the national average in all of those areas. This was once again shown in the results from this year’s National Student Survey (NSS).
8 april 2024 by Avans HogeschoolThe HBO Monitor shows once again that alumni are generally satisfied with their education at Avans University of Applied Sciences. The former students indicate that they would choose the same degree programme again in most cases. They also often find suitable employment shortly after graduating. Many students view their degree programme as valuable preparation for the job market.

As PIONEER, Avans and its partner institutions are working together on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 11: Inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable cities.
