In the English taught International Finance & Control bachelor you learn how companies can improve their financial health and how they can grow internationally by decision-making based on information.

Your employer wants to set up a production facility in Taiwan. Now it is up to you to calculate future revenues, production costs and the net present value of the project. Maybe your company wants to take over one of its competitors and you help determine the value of this company. As an international financial specialist, you know how to create profitability, take investment decisions, apply risk management and successfully present a business or export plan.
The programme Finance & Control International at Avans teaches you to analyse the financial implications of such expansions, considering factors like foreign currencies, local regulations, and economic conditions. You will learn to create comprehensive financial reports and budgets, ensuring the company's financial health while navigating international markets.
Moreover, this programme emphasises the development of intercultural skills, preparing you to work effectively in diverse teams and understand the broader impact of financial decisions on people and the environment. This hands-on experience, combined with theoretical knowledge, equips you to become a versatile financial professional ready to tackle global challenges.

In the Finance & Control programme, you work on real life projects for companies. You gain professional knowledge and skills and apply the theory that you learnt during training sessions and workshops. In year 2 you work at an international company and in year 2 and 3 you choose elective modules. In year 4 you work at an organisation to improve issues.
In year 1, you take classes alongside students from the Finance & Control and Accountancy programmes. Then you make your final choice.
Quarter 1 starts with a broad orientation with the Accountancy, Business Administration, Integral Safety Management, HRM and Finance & Control programmes. After this quarter, you can switch to one of these programmes. From quarter 2 onwards, you focus on your role as an international financial professional. You learn how to control an organisation, keep records, identify risks and draw up budgets. You also develop general skills such as digital skills and English Business Communication.
You spend the first semester of Finance & Control (international) on a work placement at an international company. In quarter 3, you can opt for an elective module offered at Avans. In quarter 4, you set up the administrative organisation focused on process control and risk management. For example, you recognise operational risks that impact information provision and business processes, taking into account regulations. And you identify pragmatic solutions for optimising business processes.

The first semester of year 3 consists of an elective module that serves to tailor-make your career even further. You can choose one at Avans or take part in an exchange programme at another university in The Netherlands or abroad. In quarter 3 you prepare (external) financial reports for the purpose of advising a company on financial issues. Finally in quarter 4 of year 3, you have another opportunity to deepen or broaden your knowledge of finance by choosing an elective module.
Year 4 of Finance & Control (international) is your graduation year. You spend your time working as a finance professional at a company. Here you show that you master the final level of the programme and that you are ready to work as an international financial business professional. In semester 1, you support the organisation in achieving strategic goals by providing management information. In semester 2, you set up the administrative organisation focused on process control and risk management.
